Halloween Trick or Treat Town Register View Cart

Halloween Trick or Treat Town is an event that transforms 40 acres of the historical Pioneer Park, Fairbanks into a whimsical, family friendly 'spook' tacular town. Fun for all ages!

Activities include: trick or treating throughout Gold Rush Town, free train rides around the park on our steam engine, live music and entertainment in the Centennial Center for the Arts, face painting, balloon animals, a petting zoo, carnival games, food trucks, a pumpkin chuck, eating competitions, a costume contest and visits from some of our most loved characters during the day. Join us if you dare… 

The first 500 people through the gate will receive a free trick or treat bag to collect goodies!

12:00pm – 1:15pm “Fight a Nerd” presented by Frozen Sun Live-Action Role Play
1:30pm – 2:15pm Thrill the World Dance presented by Breakout Dance Studio
2:30pm – 3:15pm Annual Eating Contests

4:30pm – 5:30pm Reptile Show presented by the Interior Alaska RAE Rescue

COSTUME CONTEST
The annual Halloween Trick or Treat Town Costume Contest will take place at 3:30PM in the Civic Center Theatre. Think you have the coolest, scariest or best costume at the event? Categories: Pet, Toddler (0-4), Youth (5-10), Youth (11-17), Adult & Group. $25 VISA Gift card to 1st place in each category. Sign up by 3:15pm at the Centennial Center Theatre.

EATING CONTESTS
Something is brewing that might make your skin crawl…it’s the Halloween Trick or Treat Town eating competitions! Eating competitions will take place at 2:30PM in the Civic Center Theatre. Nachos, brains and donuts are limited to the first 20 entrants in each contest. Sign up at the Centennial Center Theater during Halloween Trick or Treat Town. Not up for the challenge?   • Scary Hot Bug Nachos Eating Contest - If you are 18+ and like eating bugs and ultra-spicy food, the Scary Hot Bug Nachos eating contest is for you! A plate of tortilla chips (made from crickets!) topped with jalapeno nacho cheese sauce, ghost pepper salsa, a variety of hot peppers, lettuce and tomatoes and BUGS. Can you handle this level of scary hot?! If you’re the first to finish you’ll take home a $50 VISA Gift Card.

  • Zombie Brains Eating Contest - Look, let's face it. You like to eat brains. It's something we don't talk about a whole lot, but it's a fact of life after death. These ooey gooey, gummy worm loaded, strawberry jello zombie brains are so tasty! Contest open to ages 10-17. Be the first to finish your whole brain and win a $50 VISA Gift Card.

  • Hanging Donut Eating Contest - Donut-eaters unite for this silly contest! Compete against one another in this hands-free challenge, in which donuts will be hanging from a string tied between two poles. Individuals of all ages are welcome to compete. There will be two divisions - Youth (10-17) and Adult (18+).  


ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES


  • Enjoy spooky and sweet treats for a hauntingly delicious time from our food vendors!

  • The following Pioneer Park museums will be open and offering activities and/or treats during the event: Airplane Museum, Fairbanks Arts Association, Pioneer Museum, Tanana Valley Railroad Museum and the Wickersham House.

  • Need a scary character to complete your costume? Stop by and get your cheek, arm, or hand painted with festive Halloween characters sponsored by Enchanted Faces.

  • Meet your favorite characters! Located at the Information Booth near the Main Entrance. 


Admission to the event: $5 advance, $8 at the door. 


  • Each person must have a paid ticket for admission to the event. Children ages 3 and under are free. 

  • All ticket purchases include access to event, including admission to train rides, face painting, trick or treating, and most activities. Pumpkin Chuck, Haunted House and Food Trucks are an additional charge.


Tickets can be purchased online or in person at Access Alaska or Fairbanks Nissan starting October 1st. Purchasing your ticket in advance saves money and time waiting in line at the gate! You may pay with cash, card or check in advance or on the day of the event (Fairbanks Nissan – cash only!).  

When you purchase a ticket to the event, you are supporting Access Alaska, the Fairbanks Youth Soccer Association and the Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation Department. All proceeds of this event benefit Access Alaska, Fairbanks Youth Soccer Association and The Pioneer Park Playground Fund. Access Alaska plans to improve existing inclusive programs, and FYSA will use their funds to grow ASAP-Adaptive Soccer for All Players, their program for youth who experience a disability. Pioneer Park will use the funds towards future playground development efforts at the park. Last year you helped raise over $30,000!

General Event Information:


  • Arrive early. Lines to enter the event can sometimes be long.

  • ATMs on site.

  • Pets are permitted into the park, but must be on a leash.

  • Outside food and drinks are permitted.

  • All bags are subject to inspection.

  • There is no re-entry to this event. 


Prohibited Items:


  • Costume accessories, props, or toys that may be perceived as weapons

  • Skate boards, Roller Blades, In-Line Skates and Bicycles (bicycle parking on site

  • Unauthorized sales, solicitations and distributions
