2022 winter lights walk at WSF
Overview:
In our northern community, we need events that encourage all ages and abilities to get outside and celebrate the holiday season. As part of the Winter Solstice Festival, the 3rd Annual Winter Lights Walk invites local businesses to sponsor trees along a 1km trail and decorate them to create a winter wonderland for the community to enjoy. Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation, Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation, The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center and the Downtown Association of Fairbanks are creating this event not only as a recreational opportunity, but also as a fundraiser for a local charity. Participants may have their photo taken with a reindeer in Golden Heart Plaza and stop by the Yukon Quest Alaska cabin to warm up and enjoy some hot chocolate. This will be a very popular, family friendly event.

For Sponsoring Businesses:

17 trees are available for sponsorship/decoration. Businesses can choose their own decorations and can include lights, ornaments, ribbons, etc., no tinsel, please. Electric hookups are provided. Get creative. Businesses can give out promotional information, coupons, etc. at their tree during the viewing and voting event on Saturday, December 17th from 4-7:30pm. This year there are two levels of tree sponsorship: 10 trees available at the $500 level and a Title Tree is available to one business looking to lend more support to the event. This business will be the "Presenting Sponsor" and have their logo featured on event marketing materials. The cost of this sponsorship is $1,500. After touring the loop, attendees can vote on the best tree using tickets they receive. The winning business gets to choose a charity to donate 100% of the event proceeds to, and will receive recognition on the Big Dipper Video Boards for one month, as well as a feature article in the FNSB Parks and Recreation's 2023 Winter Activity Guide. Remember the Solstice Fireworks Downtown presented by Alyeska Pipeline is on December 17th at 8pm. We encourage all businesses to leave their tree decorations up through Winter Solstice and the Christmas and New Year's Holidays. All decorations must be removed by Sunday, January 9th. We will claim any decorations remaining after this date.
To sponsor a tree, click on the registration at the bottom of the page and we will contact you.

Additional sponsorship opportunities at all levels are available at the Winter Solstice Festival website.

In Conclusion...

Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation, Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation, The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center and the Downtown Association of Fairbanks want to promote outdoor recreation and improve the quality of life, while lending a hand to those less fortunate during the holiday season. We are very excited about this event and we hope your business will help be part of this new winter tradition in Fairbanks.
