Lifeguard Training Course

Interested in becoming a certified lifeguard? Register for our class now!
To enroll in the course you must attend the pre-screening skills test and pass on December 19th. There is a $150 fee for materials and the class.**

                 -Learn how to perform water rescue, CPR and basic first aid
                 -Build communication and leadership skills
                 -Train to stay calm and make quick decisions under pressure
                 -Work as a team to perform rescues
                  -Save lives
                 -Support the community and work together as a team

Pre-Screening Swim Test

Must be able to:
- Swim 150 yards using the front crawl stroke/breaststroke, tread water for 2 min. with feet only in the deep end and swim another 50 yards.

-Swim from shallow end to deep end (20 yds) , surface dive, pick up a 10lb brick from the bottom of the pool, surface, kick on your back staying at the surface while holding the brick with two hands on your chest back to the starting point, and climb out in 1:40 min.

You can practice the pre-screening swim test during lap swim at Mary Siah Recreation Center and Hamme Pool. Ask the lifeguards for equipment!

**Fee may be waived with proof of application completion for an FNSB Aquatics position. If applying, the pre-screening swim test will be required at the time of interview. Applicant will receive $16.00/HR during training and $18.84/HR for Pool Attendants or $19.40/HR for Lifeguards after certification.
