Winter Trail Conditions Report
Your one-stop source for current winter trail conditions for cross-country skiing, snowmachining, fat-tire biking, snowshoeing, ice skating and walking in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Our team updates the winter trail conditions report weekly on Thursdays at 11AM throughout the winter season. Additional updates may be available. Chena Lake Recreation Area
River Park Non-Motorized Trails
River Park Ski trails were groomed on 03/13 and tracks have been set.

Lake Park Peninsula Trail was groomed 03/02. The bathroom by the island pavilion is now open.


Lake Park Camp Loop Ski Trail is not being maintained at this time.

Gravel Bike Path: Please use caution while on this trail as a portion of it is in an active construction zone.

Mike Agbaba Multiuse Trail: All land based portions of the trail were groomed on 03/13. The lake based portion of the trails is not yet safe to access due to unsafe conditions. Trail damage by East Lake-- please exercise caution.

5th Ave/Beaver Spring Slough Trail: Groomed and tracks set on 03/02  

 
North Pole Ice Rink is open. Zammed 03/02. Please check schedule posted at the rink.
 
Fishing:
Ice Huts are available to rent. Check availability and make your reservation at parks.fnsb.gov. Ice thickness is approximately 25 inches with overflow. Conditions will vary across the 260 acre lake, please exercise caution. 
 

Additional: 
-Segment Portions of the Moose Creek Dam Trail will be closed for construction. 
-Portions of the Mike Agababa multi-use trail that are near the summer gravel bike path are in a construction zone.

Tanana Lakes Recreation Area
Tanana Lakes: Ski trails were groomed 03/13 

Ice rink and Skating Loop:  OPEN. Cleared off 3/13 and zammed 02/21





Big Dipper Ice Arena Outdoor Rink
Outdoor rinks: Rink #2 is Open.

 
The Nordic Ski loop (around Kiwanis Field):  Unbroken.

These FNSB trail systems are maintained by volunteers or partner groups. Conditions reports may be updated here sporadically. Visit our partners' web pages via the links below.

Two Rivers Ski Trails: Maintained by Two Rivers Elementary Ski Club. Trails south of Telemark Trail Road (all loops 6 km and under) were rolled and groomed on Sunday, March 6th. There are no classic tracks yet, but the trails are fast and wide and beautiful for skate skiing. The 7.5 km extension north of the road is not packed.

Salcha Elementary Darrel Coe Nordic Ski Trails: Maintained by the Salcha Ski Club. Located at Salcha Elementary School. Trails are not packed. Powerlines down on the trails – stay off until lines are fixed and trails are packed.

Isberg Recreation Area: Parking lot was plowed on 1/10/22.  Main trails have been packed and groomed by volunteers (1/7/22) and conditions are good. 

 
Skarland Ski Trail & Pearl Creek Trails: Pearl Creek Nordic Ski Trails have been packed and classic ski tracks set by volunteers (3/1/22). The Skarland Ski Trail has been repacked and classic tracks set by volunteers (2/23/22).

Birch Hill Recreation Area - Jim Whisenhant Cross Country Ski Trails: Trails have been changed to Nordic Skiing only, closed to multi-use and walking. Trails are maintained in partnership with the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks. Grooming updates can be found on their website.

Non-FNSB Trails
These popular trail systems are managed and maintained by other agencies or volunteers. Follow the links for most up-to-date condition reports.

Goldstream Valley Trails & Tanana Valley Railroad Trail (East of Ballaine Road):
 Main trails are packed and dragged, 4-6 feet wide. Smaller trails are narrow at this time. Lots of moose tracks.
