Chalk the Park
Pioneer Park, Chalk the Park, Memorial Day Edition 
Memorial Day is a special day at the Park and is also opening weekend! There will be many events happening throughout the weekend and we are happy that Chalk the Park will get to be a part of it!
If you have any questions prior to the event, please call Pioneer Park at 907-459-1087. On behalf pf all of our staff, we would like to wish each artist the very best of luck. We are so excited for you to Chalk the Park!

  • This event features 3 different categories; 1. Nature & Outdoors 2. Memorial Day 3. Media & Culture.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the first place winners in each category. Judging will be conducted by a panel o Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation Staff. 
  • Each artist will receive a 3' x 3' square space within Gold Rush Town at Pioneer Park to create their masterpiece. They will also get a pack of chalk. Artists are welcomed and encouraged to bring their own chalk, blending tools, etc. No paint is allowed. There will be extra sidewalk chalk available is artists run out of chalk, but certain colors are not guaranteed to be available. 
  • Artists must register by 11:59pm on May 22nd to secure their spot.
  • There are 10 available spots in each category.
  • Artists may begin working at anytime after 3pm on Memorial Day. A registration table will be set up near Gold Rush Town for chalk pick-up at 2:30pm May 30th where staff will also direct you to where to begin your art
    • Please respect the artists who are working near you. Do not walk on their drawings or have open beverage containers, which could spill and damage a drawing.
